How Much Does a Wedding Celebrant Cost in the UK?

Ah, the money chat. Everyone's favourite bit! I like to be up front about pricing, so let's just get into it.

Wedding celebrant fees in the UK typically range from around £500 to £1,500+, depending on experience, location, and what's included. The average sits somewhere around £800–£1,000 for a full ceremony package.

What does that usually include? Most celebrants will cover everything from your initial consultation, through multiple planning meetings, to writing and delivering your ceremony script on the day, plus a copy of the script to keep afterwards.

My fee is £900 for a full ceremony. That covers everything from our first conversation right through to handing you a keepsake copy of your script after your big day. I also charge 45p per mile for travel from Hastings, and if your venue is a serious trek, I might need to factor in accommodation too.

A few things that can affect the cost: how far the celebrant needs to travel, whether you want any extras like handfasting ribbons or other fun ceremony elements like bingo.

Is a celebrant worth the money? Well, a registrar might cost less, but you're getting a much more personal, creative, and meaningful experience with a celebrant. Most couples who go the celebrant route say the ceremony was the best part of their whole wedding. Obviously, I’m biased, but I think that’s worth paying for!

And, in fact I did pay for a celebrant for my own wedding in 2014, long before I became a a celebrant myself. And do you know what? It genuinely was the best part of our whole wedding!

If you want to know exactly what you'd get for your money, let's have a chat. No obligation, no hard sell. Just a conversation about what your dream ceremony looks like.
